Welcome to English 111 Online!
--Welcome to New Mexico State University! During this summer semester, you’ll learn more about how to critically read, annotate, and interpret texts, as well as research, evaluate, construct and write arguments. In other words, you will learn to be critical, both as a writer and a reader. By being able to analyze arguments that you both read and craft, and by considering multiple audiences, you will be able to better enter various conversations that will happen in your field of study and daily encounters.
--The texts we’ll examine this semester will take the form of narrative and other types of essays, advertisements, websites, short movie clips, photos, and will be provided by both me and your colleagues in class. As you might be able to tell from the photographs on this course website, many of our discussions will encompass aspects of space, place, architecture and art. |
