What is due each week?
1. A specific assignment (could be a short writing, post, reaction, etc..) due as assigned by Midnight on Thursday.

What is Netiquette?
Netiquette addresses good practices for communicating and participating online. To read the class document regarding netiquette, please click HERE.
Do you have office hours?
Since this is an online section of 111, I will hold "real time" office hours on Mondays from 12-1 pm on Skype (go to www.skype.com to open a free account). I made a video tutorial that explains the account setup process--it is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huwARuM5dyM
Where can I find my grades?
You can access your completed assignments and graded assignments record through the Canvas gradebook.
Do you offer extra credit?
Extra credit assignments will be offered periodically throughout the semester.
How can I get a hold of you?
The best way to reach me is through e-mail. I will check my e-mail twice each day--once in the morning and once in the evening. You can expect a prompt response from me. If you do not receive a response from me within 24 hours, you can contact me again as a reminder.
I posted my response at 12:05…does that mean it is late?
Yes. All posts are due by Midnight. Give yourself at least a 15-20 minute (or more) window of time before the post is due to complete and upload the assignment. This will leave you time in case you need some more time to deal with the technology. It is good practice to avoid procrastination, especially if you’ve written it and then not posted right away.
What are the consequences if my posts or assignments are late?
If your weekly post and/or response is late, I cannot accept it. Technology cannot be used as an excuse (for example, "I tried to post and it didn’t show up.”) Make sure to give yourself enough time to post. Also, complete your posts in a Microsoft Word document and save it before uploading to a Blackboard discussion post forum. Remember to keep in touch with me! If you are late with a weekly assignment or major assignment, I will deduct a letter grade (A to B, B to C, etc..)
How do you grade our writing and assignments?
Weekly posts/reactions and smaller assignments will either be counted for credit/no credit, or in the case of longer writings, they will be assessed a letter grade. Grading Rubrics and expectations will be available for weekly posts and for longer assignments, so you know what I am looking for while I grade each item. Rubrics are available as .pdf documents in Canvas under the "Files" button and under "Additional Readings and .PDFs on the course website.
What are "Notes for the Week" on the course schedule?
Notes for the Week include a little bit of explanation, comments from me to the entire class, and descriptions of weekly assignments. I will release each new week by Monday at 5pm.
Ah! Help! I am feeling really overwhelmed/confused/frustrated!
Please e-mail me right away through Blackboard and we'll work together to resolve your stress about class!
How should my headings and format look on my major assignments and drafts of major assignments?
In English 111, I ask you to use standard MLA format, which is explained in further detail on the Online Writing Center at Purdue (OWL):http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/
